Use these like a Micrometer to determine the appropriate length push rod you need when geometry is unknown or changed.  Simply put one of the five in place of the pushrod and unscrew until proper geometry is obtained.  There are 21 rings surrounding the barrel each .050 apart.  Each pushrod length checker is laser engraved with the beginning and ending range or capacity.  Simply remove the checker and add the beginning size and the sum of the rings you count times .050.  This isn't the only way to do the job, but it is sure the easiest.
